GROOVE OF THE DAY
Just got around to listening to this album. LOVE the drums on it. This is one of Chris Dave’s tracks… Basically destroys the heavens and Earth with the smoothness/tastiness of this groove & his fills. Hot damn!
I started this list about a month ago, but then I decided to lay off cuz it was too hard to make. A great guy I follow on twitter “Why I Love Movies” (inspired by the equally great Film Crit Hulk article) came out with his list of 10, which inspired me to get off my ass and narrow it down.
Basically, I have 11 films in no particular order and a ton of films that could sweep in at any time and take a spot, cuz I couldn’t just hold myself to 10. BUT my one limitation on the list was to only have 1 film per director, so a few films will have to be left off of the list forever (just by my own rules… so we don’t have like 5 films from the same few guys).
Without further ado, here’s the list. Writing will come later
The first three are (almost) always going to be my 3 favorite, everything else from there isn’t set
THE FILMS:
Oldboy
The Big Lebowski
Pulp Fiction
Pan’s Labyrinth
You Can Count On Me
Rashomon
There Will Be Blood
Do the Right Thing
Annie Hall
Hoop Dreams
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Films I love that barely missed the list: The Warriors, Snatch, Taxi Driver, Trainspotting, Mulholland Dr, Memento, Die Hard, Before Sunrise, Schindler’s List, Dear Zachary, Ratatouille, The Royal Tenenbaums, Audition, Up, Toy Story, Adaptation, The Empire Strikes Back, The Social Network, Terminator 2, The Wrestler, I’m Not There, Once… the list kind of goes on and on and on
Films that didn’t make it on the basis of my rule (1 per director): Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill vol 1, Reservoir Dogs, No Country for Old Men, Boogie Nights, Children of Men, any Kurosawa film, many many others.
Just wanted to get this list somewhat set in stone. There shall be actual writing about this later.
EDIT: I realized that originally I said “10,” then put up 11 films like a doofus. I have since fixed
if it’s on your dash, it probably has a really weird bunch of scripts about font or whatever. Ignore that, I obviously didn’t write it xD. I’m proud of that review, so check it out if you can.

WARNING: Later in this review, I will be talking about some very light spoilers (specifically near the ending of the film). I’ll mark it again once I get to it, so you can hopefully avoid it, but there’s a warning up here nonetheless
Steven Soderbergh does not need to make films anymore. With the dividends of the hugely successful Ocean’s franchise, not to mention his many other successes, he’s far past that point in his career. Though not even 50, he has produced enough hits with critics, audiences, and executives to give him pretty much free reign for the rest of his career. He has stopped working on films because he has to, instead making films because he wants to.
I am pretty outrageously bad at using this site like most do, as evidenced by my low follower count. But I will now attempt the one of the three holy trinity uses for tumblr (the other 2 being gifs and “arty” photography) - talking about my life to the internets!!!!
“She’s a Jar” - Wilco.
The harmonica part in this song may be one of the saddest/longing sounds ever recorded.

I’ma try something new today ladies and gentelmen. Condensing something as multifaceted as an opinion on a movie within just 20 words or less. Hopefully this will go fast so I don’t have to spend 3 hours doing a few reviews.
Here we go!
